The Arabella Story
In 1630 a fleet of ships departed England seeking freedom and independence in the new world.
The Arabella was the lead ship. Most passengers survived and were early settlers.
John Winthrop commandeered the fleet and later became Governor of Massachusetts. He is famous for his doctrine of hard work, thrift, and philanthropy.
To this day the Winthrop doctrine is considered to be a hallmark of the American spirit.
